Advancements in the refrigerated/frozen food segment revolve around a focus on convenience and exciting new packaging for traditional products.

By this time of year, many consumers are more than ready for a reprieve from the harsh summer heat. What better way to cool off than turning to the refrigerator or freezer for meal and snack solutions?

As is the case with many other product segments, a current trend in refrigerated/frozen foods is the move toward packaging based on convenience. One product that capitalizes on this trend is the new line of Ready Pac Bistro® Organic Bowl Salads from Ready Pac. The Organic Bowl Salads are made from all organic ingredients and packaged as single serve offerings. The salads come in four varieties (Caesar Cranberry, Orange Ginger Tofu, Zesty Harvest Grains and Honey Mustard Spinach) and are meant to meet the growing demand for both organic and single serve choices. “Single serve and organics are the two fresh-cut salad segments that are driving packaged salad category growth, with 17 and 11% growth over last year, respectively,” says Tristan Simpson, director of marketing at Ready Pac.
