RockTenn (rocktenn.com), one of North America’s largest producers of 100% coated recycled board (CRB), announced today that all of its CRB mills have achieved certification under the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance’s (RPA-100%, rpa100.com) newly launched certification program.

The new RPA-100% certification program uses third-party audits to substantiate the manufacturing practices of participating companies to verify that paperboard marketed as 100 percent recycled contains only recovered fiber. Audits of the RockTenn facilities were completed in December 2013 and RockTenn’s certified CRB has been available since Jan. 1, 2014. RockTenn and its licensed customers may use the trademarked RPA-100% Certified Recycled Paperboard label on packaging made from RockTenn’s 100% recycled paperboard.

“As a founding member of the RPA-100% and a long-term manufacturer of 100 percent recycled paperboard, RockTenn fully supports the new certification program and is proud to announce that our CRB mills have successfully completed the third-party audits required to achieve certification,” says Michael E. Kiepura, President, consumer packaging and recycling, RockTenn, and chairman of the RPA-100%.

“With this new certified designation, our customers and consumers will have an even higher level of confidence that their packaging made from RockTenn coated recycled paperboard contains only 100 percent recovered fiber,” Kiepura says.
