The other day I was driving north on the freeway into Wisconsin when I noticed a lot of big pieces of paper and corrugated blowing toward me. As I drove, they got more frequent, until I came upon the source: A Waste Management dump truck with an unsecured load of recyclable material, which it was shedding all over the road.

If you balance the ecological good of saving that load from being landfilled with the harm of all that litter, you come up with…what? That’s a question for eco-ethicists, I suppose. (Hey, if we can have bioethicists, why not eco-ethicists?)
