Walmart executive joins GS1 U.S. Board of Governors for digital / physical store outlook
Cameron Geiger, senior vice president – Walmart Technology, has been appointed to the GS1 U.S. Board of Governors. He will help guide the GS1 U.S. strategy for driving adoption and usage of GS1 Standards within the retail industry as it faces new opportunities in the age of digital and physical store convergence. GS1 Standards are used to uniquely identify products, services and locations globally, and are the most widely used information standards in the world for not only the retail industry but personal care, food and beverage industries.
Geiger is a 15-year Walmart veteran who has held several executive leadership roles at both food and beverage packaging giants, Walmart and Sam's Club in IT, sourcing and merchandising for. Prior to joining Walmart, Mr. Geiger was a management consultant at Kurt Salmon Associates. As a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he also served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Geiger is a Trustee for the American Indian College Fund and provides board training and strategic planning facilitation for local boards in Northwest Arkansas. He was honored as the Sam Walton Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008 for progress in sustainability. He previously served on the GS1 U.S. Board of Governors from 2012-2013.
