Salisbury District Hospital has become the first NHS hospital in Great Britain to create a moisturizing cream to sell commercially, with all profits to be re-invested back into patient care.
The sunflower oil based product was originally created by the hospital’s pharmacists and scientists as a moisturizing cream for plastic surgery and burns patients and has proved so popular with patients that the decision was taken to sell it to a wider public. My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream is based on the original product and now comes in two variants: unscented or with lavender essential oil. The product costs £6.99 for 100ml and is available at www.sunflowercream.com and from retail outlets within the hospital.
