Morris Packaging Adds Bag, Pouch Machines to Expand Converting Operations

August 14, 2017

Morris Packaging has acquired a new pouch machine and a new bag machine in an effort to expand its converting capabilities at its Jefferson City, Missouri, facility.

The equipment acquisition follows the completion of a 30,000-square-foot expansion, which is part of a larger development plan that, when complete, will span over 180,000 square feet. Completed, it will make Morris Packaging's converting division one of the largest in capacity and provide the capability to become a leader of flexible packaging in the United States.

The high-tech packaging facility, which started as a greenfield operation in 2014, has invested millions in state-of-the-art production technology and most recently, new machinery for press, lamination and converting capabilities. The division’s new assets – which include a Hudson-Sharp 750SGBS Pouch Machine and B&B - MAF Side Gusseted Bag Machine SFB 8E –L – will enhance Morris Packaging's abilities to better serve existing and new customers' needs in high-performance flexographic printing and creative flexible packaging.

Morris Converting began operations three years ago with nine employees. It introduced 24-hour shifts in 2016 and now employs 76. The planned expansion will result in approximately 15-20 additional employment opportunities.
