A new sustainability presentation from the Flexible Packaging Association titled, Flexible Packaging: Contributing to Sustainability focuses on the important role that flexible packaging plays in society and the environmental benefits of using it. The presentation is available to FPA members and non-FPA members, and can be downloaded from the “Sustainable Packaging” section of the FPA website.
 
Flexible Packaging: Contributing to Sustainability discusses the many beneficial environmental attributes of packaging, reasons why packaging matters, and how flexible packaging contributes to sustainability. The presentation provides an overview of “What is a Package and a Flexible Package?” and includes examples of how flexible packaging creates less waste in the first place® through source reduction. Examples of how flexible packaging reduces food waste and spoilage, and improves shipping/transportation efficiency are also available in the presentation. 
 
The presentation can be used as an educational tool for corporate and sales presentations, community and civic outreach, and incorporated into the learning curriculum of primary and secondary education. The presentation can be used in its entirety or slides can be incorporated into other presentations.
 

FPA Flexible Packaging Sustainability Education Resources

Additional flexible packaging sustainability education tools from FPA include the Sustainability and Flexible Packaging brochure, the Flexible Packaging: Less Resources. Less Footprint. More Value. brochure, and the Flexible Packaging: Less Resources. Less Footprint. More Value. Fast Facts brochure. These materials provide qualitative and quantitative information on how using flexible packaging reduces waste, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. 
 
The brochures are a part of the FPA Sustainability Advantages of Flexible Packaging Educational Toolkit. This content-rich resource includes education tools FPA members may use to communicate the environmental advantages of using flexible packaging. In addition to the brochures the Toolkit includes the Sustainability Assessment of Flexible Packaging Report, the Flexible Packaging Sustainability Resource Guide, the FPA Flex Pack Rap video; the Flexible Packaging: A Sustainable Solution PowerPoint presentation; and, the FPA sustainability logos. The Toolkit is a benefit of FPA membership and available in the “Members Only” section of www.flexpack.org.

CTI Industries Corporation Joins FPA

The Flexible Packaging Association is pleased to welcome CTI Industries Corporation to the association. CTI Industries is a developer, manufacturer and supplier of flexible film products. As a FPA converter member, the company provides design, engineering and production for flexible film products. CTI Industries develops, designs, and produces a number of products utilizing flexible films, including novelty foil pouches for food and home storage, specialty films for packaging, and film products for medical applications.

FPA Releases 2013 Membership Directory

The 2013 FPA Membership Directory is now available. A benefit of FPA membership, this key networking tool is utilized by FPA members, and provides a comprehensive listing of all FPA converter and associate members. Published annually, the Directory is available in an extended electronic (PDF) version and in a condensed print version.
 
The extended electronic version of the 2013 Directory is accessible through the Members Only section of the FPA Web site and provides contact information for FPA converter, associate, international, trade press and academic members. The extended version contains information on the FPA mission statement, FPA By-Laws, FPA leadership and staff, past FPA chairmen, the Chairman’s Advisory Council, FPA program committees, professional services, and related associations. The extended version also includes a company and personnel index.
 
The quick reference condensed print version of the 2013 Directory provides FPA members with the ability to readily locate information on FPA converter, associate, international and trade press members. In addition, the condensed version includes information on the FPA mission statement, FPA leadership, FPA staff, professional services, and a personnel and company index.

FPA Conducts Design Update to Website

Design updates will provide easier, more intuitive navigation and searches
 
The Flexible Packaging Association’s website is undergoing a facelift! The site’s new look will be unveiled in the coming months. The design updates will ensure that this key association resource continues to provide FPA members and visitors with seamless access to valuable association and flexible packaging industry information. 
 
FPA commissioned website design firm American Eagle to complete the design update project. American Eagle specializes in website strategy, development and maintenance, and has developed thousands of Internet sites, Intranets and online applications for a variety of business including Fortune 500, government agencies and associations. 
 
During the update, a main area of focus will be the site’s homepage. Enhancements include navigation bar re-organization, on-site search capabilities, and video streaming. The design updates will provide the tens of thousands of visitors who access the site each month with a thorough overview of information available throughout the content-rich site including FPA and industry data, publications, information and research. 
 
The public section of the site offers information on FPA members, press releases, industry facts and figures, the sustainability advantages of flexible packaging, and FPA members’ sustainability efforts and initiatives. The members only section provides direct access to the FPA Membership Directory, FPA studies and reports, and presentations from FPA meetings and conferences.
