New Tool Helps Businesses Optimize Packaging Costs
Smithers Pira has announced that it is launching the PACKSmart cost estimator, an online, interactive tool designed to help manufacturers determine how damages to products throughout the supply chain affect total cost. 
The cost estimator measures packaging-, product- and shipping costs as well as current damage rate under two separate sets of testing conditions. The result is a snapshot of how much total costs would be affected by implementing a package-testing program to achieve ‘just right’ packaging, or the optimal amount of material for the maximum allowable damage.
