Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) president and CEO Marla Donahue has announced plans to retire at the end of 2016. A search for Donahue’s replacement has been initiated.

“Marla has done a phenomenal job connecting people and companies to advance the industry and promote the benefits of flexible packaging,” says Ken Swanson, president and CEO of Liqui-Box Corporation and former FPA chairman of the board. “Her knowledge of and passion for the flexible packaging industry is evident in the success of the association.”

Donahue attributes the success and growth of the association to strong, passionate leaders, talented staff and members who actively participate. “This leadership will continue to drive the association and the industry forward,” says Donahue.

“Marla has devoted herself to addressing major industry issues and funding initiatives for research and programs that provide members with valuable data and information that assists them in growing their businesses,” add Stan Bikulege, chairman and CEO of NOVOLEX and FPA chairman of the board. “Her leadership has poised the association and the industry to continue strong growth.”

Donahue began her tenure as FPA president in 2000. Prior to that, she served as the president of the Paperboard Packaging Council, vice president of the Foodservice and Packaging Institute and director of government relations for the Can Manufacturer’s Institute. She also served in the George H.W. Bush White House.

FPA has begun the search for Donahue’s replacement, engaging executive search firm Vetted Solutions.
