FPA Fall Conference Examines Business, Industry Issues

July 5, 2016

The FPA’s 2016 Fall Executive Conference focuses on industry issues including external factors that will impact the industry.

The agenda includes a presentation by Rich Karlgaard, an economic and business innovation thought leader. He is publisher and columnist for Forbes magazine. Karlgaard talks about how neither the political right nor left, but America’s “radical middle” will determine the U.S. presidential, Senate and House races.

The lunch speaker, Dr. Beck Weathers, shares the inspiration that grew out of his survival from a deadly, violent 1996 storm on Mt. Everest. His story inspired the bestselling book Into Thin Air and the major motion picture Everest.

Mr. Karlgaard’s and Dr. Weathers’ appearances are being generously sponsored by:

  • CharterNex Films
  • Flint Group
  • Sun Chemical

Industry-Focused Presentations

The program also delivers insights on major flexible packaging topics. Presentations expand on these issues:

“Packaging Industry: M&A Perspectives.” Richard Weil, Managing Director, Investment Banking, Mesirow Financial Holdings, Inc., brings extensive sector expertise derived from 80+ M&A transactions in the rigid and flexible packaging, labels, folding cartons, specialty printing, tissue and corrugated packaging sectors.

“Polyolefin Market Update.” Nick Vafiadis, Global Business Director, Polyolefins and Plastics, IHS Chemical, will update his insightful look at materials market trends and where that could influence resin prices.

“Material Recovery for the Future.” Resource Recovery Systems (RRS) will discuss FPA’s partnerships on material recovery and emerging technologies and strategies to implement them.

“Flexible Packaging Market Growth Opportunities.” Aric Saulka, Euromonitor International, will expand on research that indicates where flexible packaging can expect growth.

“Flexible Packaging Advocacy Program.” Andy Hackman, Serlin Haley, will provide an update on a FPA initiative to help members deal with issues impacting the industry.

The Fall Executive Conference offers significant networking opportunities. It gives industry executives the chance to connect with their peers.
