Berry Global has announced a recycling initiative, HolyGrail 2.0, that will use digital watermarking to “tag” plastic substrates or print materials (shrink sleeve, IML label, or paper label) with an identity that could include multiple attributes.

Matrix Packaging Machinery is introducing the Matrix Morpheus, a continuous box-motion bagger that allows packagers to run a variety of films at faster speeds and with better accuracy.

Tekni-Plex has purchased automation equipment solutions manufacturer MMC Packaging Equipment Ltd. which will become part of Tekni-Plex’s Tri-Seal business.

The California State Senate has adopted a resolution recognizing the many benefits of ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) technologies and the contributions of RadTech, a non-profit trade association. “This resolution will encourage adoption of pollution prevention technologies while retaining manufacturing jobs in California,” says Rita Loof, RadTech director of environmental affairs.

Bixby International has added a gravure laminating machine at its operations center in Newburyport, MA. The new gravure laminator will allow the engineering team to expand Bixby’s capabilities to create composites and adhere materials that previously weren’t part of the company’s offerings.

Polykar, a Canadian manufacturer of flexible packaging including polyethylene film, certified compostable bags, garbage bags as well as food and industrial grade liner, has acquired a site to construct a state-of-the-art plant in Edmonton, Alberta.

The competition is open to FPA members. Non-members may enter a package if they have not participated in previous competitions, may only participate in the competition once as a non-member, and must be a flexible packaging manufacturer. FPA associate members that have contributed to a package may enter jointly with the package converter.
