Kuraray’s MonoSol division has announced that its water-soluble film manufacturing plant in Portage, Indiana, has been awarded NSF International Certification Guideline 229, Functional Foods.

The certification verifies the facility operates in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) that are consistent with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) guidelines for food products (21 CFR 110). MonoSol manufactures water-soluble, food-grade films that are transparent, odorless and tasteless. Customers globally use the film to create pre-portioned packets for a wide variety of food products, including coloring, spices, cocoa, oils and many other ingredients. Dissolvable packets with premeasured ingredients streamline food and beverage manufacturing and help reduce cross-contamination and dusting in kitchen or manufacturing applications.
