Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics has introduced ROBOND PS-7735 Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive, an all-temperature addition to Dow's line of ROBOND WaterBorne Adhesives and Coatings.

ROBOND PS-7735 delivers a valuable convergence of adhesive functionality to enable all-temperature adhesive performance, high-speed converting and high-speed coating for multi-purpose paper label applications. The latest acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) can be used to manufacture prime labels for brand packaging, and variable-information printing (VIP) labels for deli meat packaging, e-commerce and other applications.

“ROBOND PS-7735 is the latest example of Dow’s continued innovation in pressure sensitive adhesives,” says Badrish Krishnan, market manager for Dow Adhesives. “This acrylic adhesive expands Dow’s portfolio of high-value, multi-use label technologies for diverse packaging applications.”

ROBOND PS-7735 offers performance benefits for multi-purpose paper labels with wide service temperature of -40°C to 80°C, with minimum application temperature (MAT) as low as -30°C. The technology enables high tack and peel on many surfaces; excellent mandrel on glass, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and superior cardboard adhesion creating tamper-resistant packaging options with more than 85 percent fiber tear. ROBOND PS-7735 is also compliant with FDA section 175.105 standards for indirect food content for adhesives.

The acrylic adhesive will increase label and label stock manufacturer efficiencies through coater-ready formulations with good stability. This will ultimately generate faster coating speeds and improve productivity by enabling faster label converting with optimal die cutting and matrix stripability on commercial equipment.

“As the only single-source supplier for pressure-sensitive adhesives and release coatings, Dow embraces R&D and collaboration to develop new technologies such as ROBOND PS-7735,” says David Keely, field technical service manager, Dow Adhesives. “Our technical professionals continuously work with customers to remain at the forefront of innovation in the tapes and labels industry.”

Dow aqueous acrylic technologies cover a broad spectrum of applications, including tapes and labels, release coatings and liners, signage and protective film, graphic arts, textile and non-woven binders and formulation additives. After collaborating as joint venture partners for 73 years, Dow and Dow Corning have joined together to offer combined R&D, technical support, industry experience and global reach to deliver innovative acrylic PSAs and silicone release coatings technologies.
