Inteplast Engineered Films Expands Sustainable Film Portfolio

Inteplast Engineered Films (IEF) continues to expand its InteGreen® sustainable film portfolio with an improved second-generation co-extruded film designed for surface printed, all-PE store drop-off recyclable pouching. The film is designed to replace traditionally non-recyclable multi-material laminations (such as PET//PE).

Unlike traditional reverse printed PET//PE laminations, the film is designed to serve as a standalone, non-laminated and surface printed structure, reducing the number of processing steps for packaging converters. This can offer the potential for cost reduction through decreased material consumption and the removal of the lamination process.

The film is also pre-qualified for store drop-off recycling, simplifying the process for converters and brand owners to qualify the final package with store-drop off recycling labeling programs.

The second-generation blend features significantly improved physical properties and drop test performance over its first-generation counterpart, enabling its use in more physically demanding applications, including ecommerce packaging.

Recycled Content Customization

The film is also customizable with varying amounts of recycled content.

A case study in collaboration with ExxonMobil Signature Polymers and Totani America compared a 25% PCR (post-consumer recycled content) version of the film to a sample PET//PE lamination. The study showed minimal performance loss in key physical property categories.
