Don Duncan Inducted Into Printing Industry Honor Society

U.S. patent holder and technical author of the graphic arts industry gets inducted into prestigious honor society of the printing industry

November 22, 2013
Don P. Duncan, Ph.D., of Wikoff Color Corp., has been inducted into the prestigious Ben Franklin Honor Society of Printing Industries of America.

Ed Slezycki, technical service manager for Wikoff and Ben Franklin Honor Society member says, “It was my honor to sponsor, nominate and induct Don Duncan into the Society. He is an invaluable resource and willing to share his technical and chemical knowledge as well as his time for the benefit of the printing industry.”

Well-known and respected in the industry, it has been said that Duncan possesses a unique ability to process complex technical information and offer easy-to-understand explanations.

“Don Duncan’s induction into the Ben Franklin Honor Society is well deserved and fitting for his illustrious career in graphic arts. Wikoff is proud of both of our recent Ben Franklin Honor Society honorees, [Don and Ed], and we congratulate Don on this very important recognition,” says Geoff Peters, Wikoff president and CEO.

Duncan is the director of research for Wikoff. He is the current president of both the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts and RadTech, an association dedicated to the advancement of ultraviolet and electron beam technology for the printing industry, where he also serves as the co-chair of the Printing and Packaging Committee. Involved greatly in graphic arts associations, Duncan is also an active member of FTA, TAPPI, ASTM and the American Chemical Society. Additionally, he served on the board of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, and is active in the chemistry and regulation related to food packaging for the printing industry.

A native of Texas, Duncan received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from North Texas State University. He then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry. Duncan is the holder of two U.S. patents, the author of more than 30 technical papers, a frequent author in graphic arts industry trade journals and a presenter in graphic arts related conferences.
