Mondi Americas Increases Capacity with New In-line Production Line
Mondi Americas has increased its industrial bag manufacturing capacity in the U.S. by approximately 50 million bags per year with the addition of a Windmoeller and Hoelscher in-line production line at its at Romeoville, Ill., manufacturing plant. The production line, which is equipped with an automatic palletizer, enables Mondi Americas to accommodate increased demand resulting, in part, from the recovery of the U.S. building industry.
“We are seeing rising demand for industrial bags from producers and packagers of cement, mortar and related building industry products,” says Peter Windeit, managing director of Mondi Americas industrial bags, Romeoville. “Our new high-speed production line will permit us to keep pace with new and larger orders, especially from the U.S. home building sector, which is rebounding from the recession.”
One bag product that will be manufactured on the new line is Mondi Americas’ Airstream bag. “Airstream meets a host of building industry bag needs,” Windeit says. “It has fast filling speed thanks to efficient de-aeration, it offers highly effective product protection against humidity and it comes in bag dimensions that contribute to cost-efficient palletizing.”
Windeit notes that the new line will produce bags for the food industry, as well. “The line will be instrumental in helping Mondi Americas meet industrial bag demand from packagers of granular food ingredients, such as flour and corn meal. Customers can expect faster turnaround and reliable on time shipment of their orders.”
The production line consists of a new generation 8115 tuber and an 8320 bottomer. With its addition, Mondi Americas’ Romeoville plant now houses four industrial bag manufacturing lines.
