DuPont Names Two New Executive Vice Presidents
DuPont has appointed James C. Collins Jr., and Matthew L. Trerotola, both currently senior vice presidents, to executive vice president and members of the company’s office of the chief executive, effective Dec. 1.
Thomas M. Connelly Jr., executive vice president and chief innovation officer, has elected to retire following 37 years of service with DuPont, effective Dec. 31.
“Tom has provided outstanding leadership, energy and creativity throughout his career at DuPont,” says DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman. “He has been a true innovator in the science community, and we will miss his intellectual curiosity and strong leadership.
“Jim and Matt’s deep experience in leading businesses and their relentless focus on execution will play an important role in supporting DuPont’s growth now and in the future,” says Kullman.
Collins will continue to have responsibility for industrial biosciences, performance polymers and packaging & industrial polymers businesses, as well as communications and marketing & sales. Trerotola will continue to have responsibility for Electronics & Communications, Building Innovations, Protection Technologies and Sustainable Solutions businesses.
The company’s geographic regions outside the United States will be divided among Collins (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Trerotola (Asia Pacific) and James C. Borel (Latin America). Additionally, Douglas W. Muzyka, senior vice president and chief science and technology officer, will report directly to Kullman and become a member of the OCE. Gary W. Spitzer, senior vice president of integrated operations and engineering will also report directly to Kullman. These changes will be effective Dec. 1.
Connelly joined DuPont in 1977 as research engineer at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Del. He held a number of technical leadership roles including laboratory director in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. He led a number of major DuPont businesses including Delrin, Kevlar and Teflon, while based in the United States, Europe and Asia. In January 1999 he was named vice president and general manager of DuPont Fluoroproducts. He was named senior vice president and Chief Science & Technology Officer in September 2001, and to his current position in June 2006.
