Clear Lam Packaging Inc.’s PrimaPak packaging developed for Fisher Party Peanuts is a WorldStar 2015 Packaging Award winner in the food category, an honor bestowed by the Word Packaging Organization. WorldStar award winners will be formally recognized at a reception in Milan, Italy on May 19.
This is the third win for the PrimaPak package in a global awards category. Officials say the PrimaPak package is the industry’s first flexible, stackable and reclosable package produced from rollstock on a custom vertical form-fill-seal machine. The lightweight package is designed to replace bulky rigid jars, blow-molded containers, injection-molded packages, composite cans and select standup pouches. The finished package resembles a “pop-up” box, and boosts cube utilization by 30 percent or more compared to traditional containers taking up less warehouse space and reducing transportation demands, according to officials. This translates into truckload and warehouse space savings, reducing fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
“Leading food processors like Fisher Nuts are looking to the latest innovations to support their sustainability goals and drive costs out of the manufacturing process,” says Roman Forowycz, chief marketing officer for Clear Lam Packaging Inc. “We’re proud to be among the WorldStar award winners from the U.S. and we’d like to thank the judges for recognizing Clear Lam with this honor. Our company has made a significant investment in the PrimaPak System, including a new co-packing facility and innovation center near Chicago, providing our customers with an end-to-end packaging solution.”
