Flexible Packaging

Note from the Group Publisher

Change is Constant...

April 1, 2015

In my 20 years at BNP Media I have worked on over a dozen of our brands at one point or another. Flexible Packaging has been one of my favorites for a couple reasons, namely our success story behind the scenes and the exciting growth this industry continues to see. When BNP Media acquired Flexible Packaging magazine back in 2007, with 2008 as our first full year publishing this brand, it was quite a struggle in a competitive marketplace. I came into the picture to oversee this brand in the fall of 2010, and boy was it tough for us to be a competitive player in this field.

Things continue to change – and as we all know, it’s all about how you handle that change. Flexible Packaging is currently in the strongest position it has ever been in over the course of its sixteen years. Over time, we have strengthened our industry partnerships with groups like the Flexible Packaging Association, ICE USA, InfoFlex, PACK EXPO, and NPE to name a few. We have been very active growing our Facebook and Twitter social media community, have developed a mobile app on iTunes (which you can download by simply searching “Flexible Packaging magazine”), and have consistently worked to ensure our editorial evolves to reflect the flexible packaging industry – a $26.7 billion* industry in the United States alone. We have also recently introduced native advertising, which allows a company to drive brand awareness as a thought leader by publishing their sticky, buzz-worthy, non-commercial content alongside our trusted editorial online. Our website is moving in the next couple months to a mobile responsive design. Responsive design creates an optimal user experience across devices from a desktop to a smartphone, making it easier for visitors to quickly scroll through and find content of interest.

On the editorial side, Erin Wolford has decided to move on to another chapter of her life raising her two young children, which leads me to welcome our new editor, Eric Fish. Eric has been with BNP Media for three years, where he’s served as the editor of another brand, and he has over a decade of professional writing and editing experience.  Please feel free to reach out to him with your story ideas, press releases, new technologies, or just to say “hi” and welcome him to the industry. He can be reached at 248-786-1667 or fishe@bnpmedia.com.

Our sales team has been and will continue to be spearheaded by Kristina Lorio, who I have known and worked with for over 20 years. She does a great job of presenting ideas that put our clients closer to their customers. We pride ourselves on creating ideas that make sense as the industry changes and will continue to innovate for our clients.

It’s been an exciting 5 years and I look forward to what changes are next with the constant, evolving publishing industry in combination with the continuous growing flexible packaging industry.
