Following three productive days, the ICE and InPrint USA exhibitions came to a successful close at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville on April 11, 2019.

Avery Dennison has some ambitious sustainability goals it wants to hit by 2025. It wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3 percent year-over-year, go up to 95 percent landfill-free, eliminate 70 percent of matrix and liner, and source film and chemicals more responsibly, among others.

Flexo plate technology has fueled a lot of advancements. The introduction of flat top dots, produced in different ways by a number of plate vendors, has helped improve overall quality significantly. They provide much more saturated solids.

It was about three years ago when Bear Naked Granola decided it wanted to overhaul the packaging on its line of best-selling granolas and granola bites. It is obvious that the packaging world is taking sustainability in packaging — as well as operations — seriously. The numerous brands, retailers, suppliers and packaging companies that continue to change practices as well as offer lighter, recycled or reusable materials attest to it. But is it enough?

The recent recall of select canned dog food, as well as other pet food, has again put consumers on alert. In January alone, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced seven recalls — 15 if you count December 2018. In fact, 60 percent of pet parents are concerned about the safety of pet food, reports Packaged Facts (packagedfacts.com).
