FPA Update

Trump’s Regulatory Relief EOs Soliciting Industry Feedback

July 1, 2017

The FPA Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Committee has been extremely busy responding to the Trump Administration’s Executive Orders and White House Directives on the regulatory burdens of domestic manufacturers. The Administration, within its first 100 days, issued no fewer than six requests for information from domestic industries on regulatory burdens.  These include:

  • “The Priebus Memo” – Regulatory Freeze Pending Review (01/20/17)
  • Presidential White House Memo – Streamlining Permitting and Reducing Burdens on Domestic Manufacturing (01/24/17)
  • EO 13771 – Reducing Regulations and Controlling Regulatory Costs (01/30/17)
  • Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) Interim Guidance Implementing Section 2 of EO 13771 (02/02/17)
  • EO 13777 - Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda (02/24/17)
  • OIRA Guidance Implementing Executive Order 13771, titled “Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs” (04/05/17)

In addition to reviewing and responding to several of these solicitations, FPA members and staff also participated in numerous hearings and listening sessions held by the U.S. EPA Offices of Air and Radiation; Land and Emergency Management; Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention; Water; Environmental Information; Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations; and Small and Dis-
advantaged Business Utilization.

Pursuant to EO 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda,” an EPA Task Force headed by Samantha Dravis, Associate Administrator for the Office of Policy, and Administrator Pruitt’s Chief of Staff, Ryan Jackson, will compile a list of recommendations from these meetings and public comments received by May 15, 2017, to the White House.
