The Medi-CRREO Child Resistant Pouch from Pactech Packaging (pactechpackaging.com) featuring the CHILD-GUARD child-resistant slider from Presto Products Company (fresh-lock.com) will be on display at PACK EXPO Las Vegas (Booth #C-2203). Awarded by DuPont and the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA), the Medi-CRREO™ Pouch provides a new paradigm to manufacturers subject to mandates for child-resistant packaging, but relegated to cumbersome rigid containers.

First introduced in 1994, Pactech’s Medi-CRREO Pouch represented the first patented flexible and reclosable child-resistant pouch packaging. More than 20 years later, the company saw an opportunity to evolve the reclosable feature and improve consumer engagement with the package.

The Pactech team approached Presto for a solution: the CHILD-GUARD child-resistant slider. Presto’s CHILD-GUARD slider meets the standards required for listing on the ASTM D3475 index and passed the testing requirements set forth in Title 16 CFR 1700 of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). Combined with Pactech’s Medi-CRREO™ Pouch, the result is a lighter-weight and more compact alternative to rigid formats for manufacturers of household and pool chemicals, detergents, pharmaceuticals, smoking cessations and cannabis products. Available in sizes ranging from 8″x 5″ to 14″x 18″ with or without a standup gusset, the pouch also provides a larger branding billboard than prescription bottles or rigid blister packaging.

The CHILD-GUARD slider is designed to integrate into existing packaging formats, pre-made bag applications and form, fill and seal equipment, providing options for both low-volume and high-volume packagers. The use of pre-made pouches from converters like Pactech result in faster time to market and up-front cost savings.
When the Medi-CRREO™ Child Resistant Pouch featuring the CHILD-GUARD™ slider launched in 2014, packaging industry authorities were quick to recognize the innovation. Earlier this year, the Medi-CRREO Pouch was recognized as a Gold Winner in the 2015 DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation. It also received a Gold Award for Technical Innovation from the FPA.
