Ampac wins WorldStar award for E-Z SnackPak

Ampac wins WorldStar Award for EZ-Pack
October 13, 2016

Ampac, a division of ProAmpac (proampac.com) was recognized for its E-Z SnackPak™ win in the WorldStar Awards Competition. The E-Z SnackPak is a new packaging format for the single-serve snack food market. The tetrahedron-shaped pouch transforms into a serving tray upon opening – providing a unique consumer experience. The flexible pouch is an innovative category changing package primarily focused on snacking occasions. The tetrahedron shaped pouch stands out on the shelf.  E-Z SnackPak provides dual functionality, first as an innovative package, and second as a serving dish by uniquely converting into a tray after opening. The creative package offers unique and easy access to product and uses up to 25% less packaging than a comparable VFFS pouch. It also offers increased product protection due to its unique shape.

ProAmpac’s Sal Pellingra, VP of innovation and technology, accepted the WorldStar Award at the ceremony in Budapest, Hungary. “We are really proud of the recognition of the E-Z SnackPak pouch by the WorldStar Packaging Organization. Winning a Worldstar award is a testament to how ProAmpac builds value through creative packaging solutions. We are truly honored for the award especially against so many outstanding global innovations. It’s exciting to see ProAmpac create cutting-edge innovations that are recognized on the world stage.”

Ampac also landed an AmeriStar award for the Duke’s Mayonnaise 8 o-ounce pouch, a shaped, reclosable stand up pouch new to the mayonnaise and condiment aisle utilizing clear, barrier lamination for product protection.

The Duke’s Mayonnaise 8-ounce pouch, a new package format for the condiment aisle, provides easy to carry convenience, product protection with less package breakage, ease of dispensing, and differentiates the brand with its unique shape. Its shape and usage of the flexible billboard makes it stand out on the shelf in this primarily rigid format category.

The flexible pouch provides a sustainable improvement over the current rigid formats by utilizing two-thirds less packaging by weight and almost ninety five percent less by volume over a similar rigid PET bottle.  Product loss is also improved with close to 100% product evacuation and clean and easy directional dispensing, minimizing consumer frustration with failure to get all the product out of the package.  It also eliminates mess while trying to reach into a rigid container to get the product out.  The fitment, the first commercial flip top for liquid food flexible packaging, is easy to use, clicks to an open position for enhanced dispensing and flips closed without having to set the cap down and apply it again as with most traditional two piece fitments and caps.

“This food category award showcases the innovation and creativity applied to the existing Duke’s rigid product. The Duke’s Mayonnaise pouch is a stand-out, category changer providing differentiated design that will stand out on the shelf and provides an enhanced consumer experience with the product, “ states Millie Nuňo, ProAmpac director of marketing. The Duke’s Mayonnaise pouch is now eligible to compete in the WorldStar Awards sponsored by the World Packaging Organization.
