As the only exhibition for its industry in Russia showcasing the entire value chain - from packaging manufacturing and printing to packaging, converting and finishing - UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA is the most important event for decision makers and purchasing professionals. Exhibit categories include food & beverage, confectionery & bakery, pharmaceuticals & cosmetics as well as consumer goods (non-food) and industrial products.
Special emphasis in 2014 will be on food processing and converting/package printing. In 2013, the food production sector experienced the fastest growth in Russia. The per capita consumption of foodstuffs increased by almost 12% in 2011 and is expected to continue at an average rate of 11% yearly until 2015. Another promising sector is printed packaging with 5% to 6% annual growth. 2012 also marked impressive growth rates in the manufacturing of high quality flexible and cardboard packaging.
Russia is one of the most lucrative markets for the consumer goods industry. The Russian Federation with its approximately 143 million inhabitants is among the leading sales markets for the food, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. The growing middle class and increasing prosperity have resulted in a change of consumer and shopping behavior. There is an increased interest in new and modern processed and packaged food and beverages and this development drives the Russian packaging industry and the demand for innovative machinery, materials and technologies.
interplastica 2014, 17th International Trade Fair Plastics and Rubber, will again be held concurrently with UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, providing participants with added synergies. Over 1,000 exhibitors from various countries are expected for the 2014 staging of the two events. About 20,000 visitors from Russia and CIS countries came to the previous staging in 2013.
