Pregis is purchasing an additional blown film line to address growing demand for output at its Pregis Films facility located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This $6 million investment is for a second multilayer Windmoeller & Hoelscher machine to complement the $17 million outlay announced in late 2016 for its first five-layer W&H line, converting equipment and expanded production space.

“We are seeing increased demand for higher quality flexible packaging, e-commerce protective material and surface protection films. Our continued investment in this facility will help us meet market segment expectations for package performance and provide vertical integration for some of Pregis’ other products,” notes Tom Wetsch, chief innovation officer.

In addition to the two W&H lines, the 90,000 square-foot Grand Rapids manufacturing facility also houses four state-of-the-art multilayer blown film extrusion lines and a film lab. It has also grown its Grand Rapids workforce to 130 employees.
