Praxis Packaging (praxispackaging.com), an independently operated subsidiary of the Huizenga Group, has acquired Unette Corporation of Randolph, NJ (unette.com). This marks the first independent acquisition in company history.

Additionally, this acquisition expands Praxis’ packaging solutions to include liquid, cream and paste products in tubes, bottles, jars and stick packs.

Unette, the originator of single-use tubes for items such as sunscreen and lotions, has a 115,000-square-foot facility that accommodates multiple packaging and filling lines, including bottle/jar filling, rigid tube fillers, Unette form/fill/seal unit-dose machines, and liquid stick pack machines.

The acquisition is complementary to both companies. Praxis has deep experience in FDA- regulated food and drug products, while Unette has roots in beauty and personal care categories. Together, Praxis and Unette boast more than 90 years in the packaging industry and the acquisition will bring new clients to both organizations.

“This move is mutually beneficial,” Senior Vice President of Praxis, Scott Hanmer, explains. “It’s a unique growth opportunity that allows us to blend our capabilities and expand our offerings across both markets.”

Praxis will continue to operate the Unette facility in New Jersey, giving them an established presence on the East Coast. Unette will be marketed as an independent brand, Unette: Powered by Praxis. Praxis now employs over 750 people and has plans for future growth in capacity and hiring in all locations.

“It was a natural fit for us to combine forces with Praxis to extend our packaging solutions to other categories,” says Joe Hark, Senior Manager at Unette. “We look forward to growing together and continuing to serve our customers with quality products and innovative packaging solutions.”
