Clear Lam, Triangle Enter Licensing Agreement for PrimaPak System

August 26, 2015

Clear Lam Packaging, Inc. and Triangle Package Machinery Co. have entered into a new North American equipment manufacturing licensing agreement for the PrimaPak program, an agreement which gives Triangle a license to manufacture and supply the patented PrimaPak System Interface on its Model XYT15 Vertical-Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) Bagging Machine.

This is Clear Lam’s second equipment licensing agreement for the revolutionary PrimaPak technology, which produces a six-sided package with a reclosable feature made from a single roll of flexible film. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Our global licensing agreement with Triangle continues the momentum behind our revolutionary PrimaPak System,” says James Sanfilippo, president and chief executive officer, Clear Lam Packaging, Inc. “Like Clear Lam, Triangle is a vertically integrated manufacturer known for high standards of excellence and the latest packaging innovations. Our companies are committed to providing our customers with the most advanced packaging solutions to deliver improved sustainability and material savings.”

Technically advanced and operator friendly, the new Triangle PrimaPak VFFS Bagging Machine (Model XYT15C4CFB/PP) is designed for food and consumer packaged goods products and is available in continuous motion, so it can perform at faster operating speeds up to 100 bags per minute, depending on the package size. Applications for the PrimaPak`technology include confectionery and snack products, cereal, coffee, detergent pods, pet food, cheese, and produce.

“Our focus at Triangle is to be a market leader by giving our customers the flexibility and versatility they require to achieve their packaging objectives,” says Bryan Muskat, president of Triangle Package Machinery. “We understand that cube utilization is often an important part of the equation to enhance supply chain efficiencies. Our collaboration with Clear Lam addresses this need and gives our customers the most innovative bag styles on the market today.”

The Clear Lam PrimaPak System is the industry’s first ever flexible, stackable, reclosable package designed to replace rigid cans, bottles, jars, and trays. The packaging retains its shape even when empty, giving it superior merchandising compared to stand-up pouches and similar packaging that may fall over.

In addition, because it is produced from flexible rollstock, the PrimaPak package uses up to 70 percent less plastic compared to PET cans, bottles, jars, or trays. In transport, in the warehouse and on retail shelves, the stackable design improves cube so more product can be distributed in fewer shipments, efficiently stored and displayed using less fuel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Clear Lam and Triangle will each be exhibiting at PACK EXPO International in Las Vegas, Sept. 28 - 30, 2015. The new PrimaPak continuous motion machine will be shown in Triangle’s booth C-2620 and video demonstrating new PrimaPak®` specialty applications will be shown in Clear Lam’s booth S-6307.
