Constantia Flexibles has opened a new multi-million dollar competence center dedicated to the research and development of polymer films and film laminates.  

“Today’s opening is a clear signal that we will support our customers around the globe with innovative film products,” says Gerold Riegler, board member for Constantia Flexibles. “In addition, we are currently planning our own lab-scale film production line for 2016 with the installment of an extruder.”

The center, which is located at the company’s second largest production plant in Weiden, Germany, will have 15 experts working on about 100 projects every year.  The company says the experts will focus on supporting product and sales managers by analyzing the latest film products, developing new film formulations and developing mock-ups of in-house innovations, such as recycling-friendly packaging.
