Packaging in the healthcare market is a growing industry with many challenges to overcome and exciting opportunities to be had.

Prolamina, a brand division of ProAmapc, will display its full PRO-FLEX line of cheese packaging solutions at the International Cheese Technology Exposition (ICTE), April 12-14, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 

Uflex plans to display a state-of-the-art UV process manufactured Fresnel, diffractive, holographic and hybrid (combination) lens embossed films for both generalized patterns and customized specialty films in a roll format at Drupa, scheduled for May 31 to June 10 in Dusseldorf, Germany. 

Toppan USA, Inc., a Griffin, Georgia-based subsidiary of Tokyo-based Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. has completed construction of its new Georgia plant, a site for the manufacture of transparent barrier films.

Label Specialties Inc., a trade-only label converter in Louisville, Kentucky, has received approval to produce drum labels on flexographic presses that fully meet the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements for overseas shipments.

MonoSol, a leader in water-soluble films, will open a new $95-million state-of-the-art production plant in Portage, Indiana on April 19, 2016. 

A new tear-resistant, woven polypropylene bag with a stable, square base is now available from the Consumer Goods Packaging Division of Mondi in North America. 

Inland has acquired Valley Label, a Neenah, Wisconsin-based flexographic printing company that produces flexible packaging for customers in the healthy, beauty cosmetics and food insutries. The acquisition follows the recent addition of a flexographic facility in Pennsylvania in October 2015. 

Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) president and CEO Marla Donahue has announced plans to retire at the end of 2016. A search for Donahue’s replacement has been initiated.
