Five leading packaging companies in North America and Europe today announced they intend to combine in order to operate as one global leader under the banner of Exopack Holdings Sarl, a new Luxembourg company.
Wind Point Partners announced today that portfolio company Hilex Poly, a manufacturer and recycler of plastic retail carry out bags and film products, has acquired portions of the North American Flexible Packaging division of Amsterdam-based Clondalkin Group. The businesses that Hilex Poly has acquired are Fortune Plastics, Accutech Plastics and Direct Plastics Limited. This transaction will allow the company to continue to diversify its product line, as well as expand its recycling technologies.

An innovative technology for advancing the shelf life of packaged fresh produce will now be available from both Exopack and Kobusch following the signing of a contract for a strategic alliance between the two flexible packaging converters and PerfoTec B.V. (PerfoTec).
Sonoco announces that M. Jack Sanders has taken over as president and chief executive officer following his election by the company's board of directors. Sanders, 59, succeeds Harris E. DeLoach Jr., who retired as CEO after a 27-year career with the company. As announced in December, DeLoach, 68, remains Sonoco's executive chairman of the board.
