US demand for caps and closures to exceed $11 billion in 2018
US demand for caps and closures is projected to exceed$11 billionin 2018, representing 305 billion units according to a new research report from Reportlinker.com (Reportlinker.com). Gains will be driven by an acceleration in container unit growth relative to that of the 2008- 2013 period and greater use of dispensing and child-resistant closures (CRCs), which are more costly than standard threaded closures. Demand for dispensing closures will benefit from consumer trends favoring convenience and ease of use, as well as brand owner interest in differentiating products at retail. CRC demand will be driven by the need to comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements that mandate child-resistant packaging of pharmaceuticals as well as many household products.
