Pharma Expo logoProfessionals in the rapidly-growing biotechnology industry will find the solutions they seek well supported at this fall’s debut of Pharma EXPO, co-located with PACK EXPO International (Nov. 2-5, 2014; McCormick Place, Chicago).

The show, a joint venture of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), will connect biotechnology professionals with solutions to meet the needs of complex operations requiring flexible manufacturing and adaptable process technologies.

“The biotechnology segment of the pharmaceutical industry is growing very quickly,” says Jim Pittas, vice president, Trade Shows, PMMI. He points to IBISWorld reports of 11 percent growth in the sector between 2008 and 2013, with current revenues around $262 billion.

“Pharma EXPO will be an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to find the solutions they need, while they benefit from ideas cross-pollinating from other life science sectors and even PACK EXPO,” he adds.

Pharma EXPO will provide access to hundreds of technologies and outstanding educational opportunities. More than 200 exhibitors will showcase solutions at Pharma EXPO. Biotechnology highlights include:

  • "Next Generation" bioreactor systems that promote operational efficiency.
  • Complete fill-finish systems including washers, depyrogenation tunnels, fillers, RABS and isolators.
  • Flexible approaches to both aseptic and non-aseptic processing areas for new facility construction, expansion and renovation projects.
  • Solutions designed to help automate a wide range of upstream and downstream processes.

Pharma EXPO also will offer several key features to help attendees maximize their time at the show. The Rx Lounge will serve as a networking destination for attendees from all of the life science industries. Meanwhile, The Innovation Stage will offer free 30-minute educational seminars on breakthrough technologies and processes with applications in the biopharmaceutical, nutraceutical and medical device sectors.”

Innovation Stage presentations will take place throughout the day right on the exhibit floor, providing convenient access to education, and supplementing ISPE’s world-class conference program at Pharma EXPO. The 33 ISPE sessions, presented across four days, will cover the latest technological and regulatory trends, best practices, and practical applications of science and technology for individuals from the biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.

“We are excited to offer an educational conference targeted to the needs of Pharma EXPO attendees,” says Nancy Berg, president and CEO of ISPE. “The sessions will provide a deeper dive into some of the most critical trends and challenges faced by companies producing biologic medicines.”
