Survey Finds Packing Lunch Is Top Back-to-School Stressor for Parents

Survey Finds Packing Lunch Is Top Back-to-School Stressor for Parents
August 16, 2017

Wise Apple, the kid-inspired, ready-to-eat meal delivery service, aims to ease parents' stress with a turnkey solution for packing lunch, a top back-to-school stressor of 2017. A new survey conducted by Wise Apple finds that packing lunch tops the list of stresses for parents as their children head into the new school year. Almost all parents (85 percent) surveyed reported feeling stressed when prepping and packing lunch.

More than half of parents surveyed cited they dislike packing lunch (53 percent) and listed it as the most stressful part of the back-to-school season (61 percent). When asked to choose their top three stresses about their kids going back-to-school, parents reported:

  • Packing lunch- 61 percent
  • Getting your children up and dressed- 55 percent
  • Homework- 47 percent

"Back-to-school is one of the most stressful times of year for a parent and our survey shows that packing lunch is one of the leading causes," Wise Apple CEO Rebecca Sholiton explains. "We designed Wise Apple to make life a little easier by making lunch better, and providing families with a stress and time-saving solution to planning and packing meals. For each meal, we start by asking kids their ideal school lunch, then our culinary team transforms their ideas into ready-to-serve meals with ingredients that parents can feel good about."

The Wise Apple platform enables parents to easily order meals online with their kids and choose from a wide selection of balanced meals that are delivered weekly. With the guidance of a culinary team and pediatric dietitian, Wise Apple incorporates the highest quality protein, produce and ingredients into its menu. Organic and locally sourced whenever possible, the meals are designed for a variety of dietary and taste preferences including gluten-free, dairy-free and always nut-free. The packaging easily fits in a lunchbox and allows kids to customize based on their preferences.

Wise Apple's refreshed identity is inspired directly by its customers, and adds a fun, playful spin on the company's original mission: to provide real food to real families who live busy lives. The Wise Apple brand comes to life with a new, simple to use website (www.getwiseapple.com) and recyclable mix-and-match packaging that is easy to transport and store. Revamped menu items are made with real, wholesome ingredients and also meet a range of dietary needs, from simple to adventurous eaters.

Wise Apple is available for delivery throughout the Midwest with plans to expand by 2018. The meals are prepared, packed and sealed for freshness in a commercial kitchen and delivered door-to-door using insulated, environmentally-friendly cooler boxes. Consumers can chose from Wise Apple favorites or completely customize their own with meal plans providing convenience to fit their family's needs over time. With multiple weekly plan options including five, eight, or 12-pack delivery options.
