Award-winning drinks design agency Denomination expands into the U.S. with a new office opening in San Francisco, close to the Napa Valley region. The office will be led by newly appointed Business Director Meghan Read.

Since establishing Denomination in 2002 in Australia, co-founders Rowena Curlewis and Margaret Nolan went on to open a studio in London in 2014 after transforming the business into Australia’s leading drinks design agency. They have gained recognition for their work with industry awards in the U.K. and Australia.

Together they have worked across drinks brands from around the world, including wines such as America’s fourth largest wine brand Yellow Tail, Le Chat Noir from France, Penfolds from Australia and Araldica from Italy, plus Chapel Down and Smeaton’s Bristol Method Dry Gin in the U.K.  Denomination’s international experience, with teams in San Francisco, London and Sydney, who create design and strategy for boutique and large-scale brands, brings a global perspective and a wealth of experience to the U.S. market.

The US office marks an exciting new chapter in the agency’s story, according to Denomination CEO Rowena Curlewis, who said: “We felt there was an opportunity to provide the US market with a different approach from a drinks specialist with global experience in designing both boutique and large-scale brands. We’re bringing a consultancy that looks at the market with fresh eyes, lateral thinking and with a firm eye on ensuring brands are both distinctive and appealing.”

In her new role, Read will act as the primary liaison between Denomination’s U.S.-based clients and the agency’s teams in Sydney and London. She joined the craft beer industry straight from college and has many years of experience working in the industry with a focus on wine, beer, cider and spirits. Meghan has worked on many drinks brands including Trumer Pils, Ruffino, Hogue Cellars, Beringer, Pete’s Wicked and Sbragia.

“I’m so excited to be joining this award-winning business that Margaret and Rowena have worked so hard to create. Having worked alongside the Denomination team in Sydney, I’ve witnessed at first-hand the brilliance behind their craft and I can’t contain my enthusiasm for being able to join such an incredible group of people, who aren’t afraid of pushing boundaries to deliver the best possible end-result. The work speaks for itself and I can’t wait to contribute to the team effort and deliver again and again in the US," said Read.
