The cap is a collaboration with Blue Ocean Closures (BOC), a Swedish start-up that has formed a pioneer community to reduce plastics through fiber packaging innovation.
The Collective Good wine range, which is bottled exclusively in the paper Frugal Bottle, has a Red Blend, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Pinot Grigio. They have just gone on sale in nearly 1,200 of stores across the US from just $9.99 to tie in with April’s Earth Month.
Created in partnership with PA Consulting, as part of the Bottle Collective with PA and PulPac, this is Diageo’s first paper-based 70cl bottle trial in the on-trade.
Partnership will enable California wineries to use the world’s first and only commercially available paper bottle for wines and spirits, helping them to reduce their carbon footprint.
Diageo, maker of Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Guinness, created the first 100% plastic-free, paper-based spirits bottle, made entirely from sustainably sourced wood. The bottle will debut with Johnnie Walker, the world's number one Scotch Whisky, in early 2021.
