SUPPLIER CLOSE-UP: Automated Packaging has success in the bag

September 30, 2009
The new FAS SPrint Revolution bag packaging system is specifically designed for high-volume fresh and frozen food packaging applications.

Automated Packaging Systems has been a world leader in designing and manufacturing bag packaging systems for more than 45 years, and is the original inventor of Autobag bagging machines and pre-opened bags. Today, it is the only company manufacturing genuine Autobag brand bags-on-a-roll, SidePouch specialty bags, and AirPouch void-fill and protective packaging, plus a full line of baggers and bag packaging equipment.

Headquartered in Streetsboro, Ohio, Automated Packaging Systems is a global packaging supplier, with sales, service, and distribution offices located throughout North America, Europe, India, the Pacific Rim and Latin America. With five manufacturing plants, Automated Packaging Systems produces more bags-on-a-roll and bagging systems than all of its competitors combined.

Bag packaging systems

Automated Packaging Systems provides a complete line of baggers and integrated bag packaging systems for fresh and frozen food packaging applications. The all new, high-speed FAS SPrint Revolution bag packaging system has a 60-inch wide loading area with pre-opened bags positioned for hand-load or fully automatic loading at speeds up to 150 bags per minute. This new SidePouch system accommodates many different bag sizes and styles, including bags with reclosable zippers, tamper-evident perforations, resealable flaps and more. The system incorporates a rugged, stainless steel design for daily washdown procedures.

Other bag packaging systems include semi-automatic and fully-automatic systems such as the high-speed Autobag AB 180 Bagger, the AB 255 Wide Bagger, and the OneStep family of baggers. In-line printers are available for efficient Print-n-Pack systems.

Automated Packaging Systems also works closely with many customers to design custom-engineered solutions that include fully automatic, semi-automatic, and hand-load bagging systems.

Bag packaging materials

Automated Packaging manufactures its own bags to quality specifications that are well above industry standards. A new line of EarthAware bag films are made of biodegradable and recycled materials for eco-friendly sustainable packaging solutions. Standard bag materials include polyethylene, polypropylene, barrier/co-extruded, opaque, mil-spec, anti-static and several others specifically designed for food applications.

The company recently expanded its printing capabilities with a new 10-color flexographic printing press for high quality, custom graphics on bags to enhance important branding appeal.

New products include the FAS SPrint Revolution bagging system for high-throughput packaging in a fresh or frozen food production environment. This new system can be integrated into existing production lines for fully automatic or hand-load packaging using one or more operators or infeeds.

The new Autobag PaceSetter PS 125 and PS 125 OneStep tabletop baggers are ideal for small-volume applications where space savings and cost are important. With a 22 x 19 inch footprint and all-electric design, these systems are highly adaptable to any low- to mid-volume production environment. The PS 125 OneStep includes an integrated imprinter for next-bag-out printing of graphics, text and bar codes.
