Brands like Kraft, Evian and Stonyfield Farm and retailers like CVS and Petco are signing on with RecycleBank, a recycling facilitator that awards points to households based on the weight of their curbside recyclables; points are redeemable for groceries and other goods from these brands and retailers. An RFID-embedded recycle bin and a single-stream recycling process (no sorting required by consumers) simplifies the process. Recycling rates in one of the first Philadelphia neighborhoods that RecycleBank served rose from seven percent to 90 percent in a matter of months, according to a report inTime.
