ULMA Packaging Launches TFX Thermoformers for Food Packaging

June 4, 2025

ULMA Packaging has introduced its new range of high-performance TFX thermoformers, a packaging solution designed to tackle today’s challenges in the food industry, with a strong focus on production efficiency, sustainability and digitalization.

The hygienically designed TFX thermoformers stand out for their high performance and operational availability when producing high quality packaging with sustainable materials. Advanced technologies have been incorporated to optimize the packaging process, such as the movement synchronization that improves productivity by up to 10%, or the new vacuum system design which reduces the vacuum cycle time by up to 20%, achieving a more agile and efficient production.

Conceived to take care of every detail of the final product, the TFX range incorporates innovative features that ensure superior packaging quality at every stage of the process, such as automatic film alignment, precise zone heating and constant atmosphere control in the sealing area.

In addition, ULMA also offers in-line quality control solutions for the verification and inspection of labels and the sealing area to ensure the highest quality and food safety.

One of the standout features of the TFX line is its ability to dramatically reduce format changeover times. Technologies like touchscreen-controlled tray height adjustment, automatic film and label roll changeovers, and quick-release systems for longitudinal cutting help minimize downtime.

To minimize errors during format changeovers, ULMA has developed an intelligent RFID verification system that automatically identifies molds and cutting tools based on the selected format and recipe—reducing setup times and enhancing operational safety.

With two strategically positioned control panels, operators can have clear, intuitive access to all machine functions enhancing usability and reducing unnecessary movement on the production floor.

Sustainability is at the heart of the TFX design. The new Better Form X™ technology allows the use of thinner base films without sacrificing packaging rigidity, while Better Seal X™ enables efficient sealing of recyclable and eco-friendly materials. These innovations support manufacturers in meeting environmental targets without compromising performance.

In today’s connected and data-driven manufacturing environments, the TFX offers intelligent features that elevate efficiency. Centralized recipe management allows machines to auto-adjust settings based on production orders, while built-in monitoring tools track usage of film, electricity, air, and gas by shift or batch. At the end of each run, the system generates a detailed PDF report, giving manufacturers a comprehensive view of production performance.

With this release, ULMA Packaging reinforces its commitment to the development of innovative, sustainable solutions adapted to the real needs of its customers, reaffirming its position as a benchmark in food packaging technology.
