Commissioning of two of the world’s largest vertical reactors marks a milestone for the company.

OCTAL(www.octal.com) has tripled its annual production capacity of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin this month with the commissioning of two of the world's largest vertical reactors at the company's leading-edge PET complex in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman. With a total system output of over 1 million metric tons of PET bottle grade resin, OCTAL has firmly secured its stature in the industry as the world’s largest single site PET producer.

"This milestone is a watershed for us. It signifies that OCTAL is committed to the PET resin industry downstream and has the financial means and the organization to execute on this kind of growth," says William J. Barenberg Jr. "This large addition of capacity gives us a stronger competitive advantage to serve the growing global demand for high performing PET resin and sheet."

The company is now halfway through its investment plan with additional capacity scheduled for 2015 and 2016. When complete, the site will manufacture a total of 2.5 million tons per year both PET resin and its primary raw material, PTA.

Through the application of pioneering technology, OCTAL has set the global benchmark not only in superior product quality and sustainability, but also in productivity and cost efficiency.
