Dr. Michelle Twaroski joins the firm.

Keller and Heckman LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its Food and Drug Practice with the addition of Dr. Michelle Twaroski as a scientist in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Twaroski served for nine years as Toxicology Group Supervisor in the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Division for Food Contact Notifications, Office of Food Additive Safety, and she brings to Keller and Heckman more than eleven years of government experience in the areas of toxicology, risk assessment, and general safety issues impacting food packaging materials.

In her role as Toxicology Group Supervisor, Twaroski had direct responsibility for the toxicological evaluation of hundreds of food-contact substances. During her tenure at FDA, she also was involved in enhancing the safety review of food-contact substances through the use of structure activity relationship (SAR) analysis.

More recently, Twaroski was Chief of the New Chemicals Screening and Assessment Branch in the Risk Assessment Division of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, where she oversaw human health and ecological safety assessments of new chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act.

Twaroski received her Ph.D. in Toxicology from the University of Kentucky, and her B.A. in Biology from the University of Louisville. She has authored or co-authored dozens of publications on issues related to food-contact substance risk assessment, structure activity relationship (SAR) analysis, and peroxisome proliferation.

Keller and Heckman has a broad practice in the areas of regulatory law, litigation, and business transactions, serving both domestic and international clients.
