A new book from graphic arts trade association PIA/GATF,
“Trends in Package Printing,” presents current and future trends in
package printing. It also extrapolates long-range trends from recent
data and reports. It is available for download at the association’s
website.
Packaging products and solution provider Pro Mach Inc. has acquired Labeling Systems Inc., a designer and manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labeling equipment.
Material-handling equipment supplier FKI Logistex has formed a Solutions Development Group to provide integrated supply chain solutions to its North American customers on an accelerated schedule. It operates as a systems integrator and specifies, installs and commissions all FKI Logistex and third-party products and services involved in supply chain solutions.
Packaging Technologies has acquired MAP Systems, a division of Clear Lam Packaging. MAP Systems technology delivers inert or active gases into the product and its primary packaging to maintain freshness and extend shelf life.
Flexographic printing firm Pamco Label Co. has bought a Hewlett Packard Indigo press ws4500, which offers high-quality jobs in quantities too low for cost-effective flexographic printing.
FANUC Robotics America Inc.’s Certified Education Robot Training (CERT) program certifies instructors at qualified high schools, community colleges and universities to program FANUC robots. Schools also can purchase educational robot-training software.
Nordson Corp.’s online Adhesive Systems Parts and Services Center lets customers purchase Nordson parts, contact sales and service representatives, and obtain up-to-date technical and product information. Customers can buy products and check pricing and order status online, as well as access replacement parts for adhesives systems and product and technical information for download.
Kliklok-Woodman has appointed Michael Gilbertson as a regional accounts manager, primarily handling strategic vertical form-fill-seal snack-food accounts. Gilbertson comes from a 15-year career as sales manager with Greener Corp.
Graham Packaging Co. L.P., won the Dannon Co.’s Supplier of the Year Award on Jan. 22. Graham Packaging operates eight container manufacturing plants on site with Dannon/Danone worldwide and produces plastic containers for its yogurt products.
Plastics manufacturer Toray Industries Inc. established Toray Films Europe S.A.S. in late February in France, and will begin constructing facilities for both film production and metallizing this year. The company plans to begin operations there in April 2010.
Printing software supplier Prism North America appointed David Noll to its sales force. Noll, who has more than 16 years of experience in print management information systems (MIS) technology and shop floor operations, joins the company from Technique MIS, where he was vice president of sales.
Consumer goods packaging products supplier Silgan Holdingshas announced a purchase agreement with Grup Vemsa 1857 S.L. to acquire the assets of its metal vacuum closures businesses, Vem de Tapas Metalicas in Spain and Vac Vem in China. The purchase price is approximately $10 million.
