Parchment wrapping and a wooden base lend an “artisan” cachet to a new single-serve package for brie cheese. Extra Creamy Brie from the Alouette unit of France’s Bongrain has been rolled out in a 5-ounce version. The upper wrapping is white parchment, and the product’s base is a round, multi-sectioned wooden tray. The package is unitized by a paper band that wraps all the way around and widens into a round label on top with all product information and graphics. Extra Creamy Brie, with a suggested retail price of $4.99, was introduced regionally in late 2009 and was recently released nationwide.
