Ball Packaging Europe (ball-europe), snagged the top award at the Euro CanTech Awards, which took place in Berlin, Germany in April.

The ‘Supreme Cup’ was particularly close this year, but the judges decided Ball’s Strawster was the deserving winner. The three-piece plastic device centered inside the can was awarded due to its outstanding innovation in can making.

“The Euro CanTech Awards celebrates excellence in the can making industry across Europe,” comments Conference Director, Neil McRitchie. “Each category was judged by a panel of industry experts who assessed each can based on its own individual merits. It was decided that the Strawster was a deserving winner due to its clever design and the innovative nature of the product, which is likely to catch the attention of consumers.”

Ball Packaging Europe’s President, Colin Gillis, was present to collect the award, and he comments: “As a leader in beverage packaging, innovation is deeply rooted in Ball’s culture. Our team works continuously to develop new can and end functionalities, shapes and designs that create more value to our customers. Strawster slim can with a plastic device is the latest innovation from our lab and we are proud that it was recognized as the most innovative product at the Euro CanTech 2016 event.”

The Awards and Gala Dinner included more than150 can makers, suppliers and industry professionals who celebrated the achievements of innovation, design and excellence within Europe's can-making industry.
