GMG (gmgcolor.com) joins co-sponsor Hybrid Software, and partners Anderson Vreeland, Epson, MacDermid, nilpeter, Techkon and Zund, with their Best in Class packaging workshops throughout the U.S. this spring. The first event was April 4 but there is still time for the second event: April 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Nilpeter Demo Office, 11550 Goldcoast Dr., Cincinnati, Ohio.

A number of printers, designers and converters attended these sessions in 2017. The workshops showcase a packaging project moving through the complete prepress process from the PDF file submission through extended gamut color separation, proofing, trapping, step and repeat and platemaking in an innovative workflow that was previously not possible.

Specific topics include: new extended gamut tools in the GMG ColorPlugin for Photoshop; advanced package modeling tools in PACKZ; Hybrid PACKZ photorealistic renderings of packaging from CAD; rapid mockup creation with the new Epson SC-S 80600; color-accurate press proofs that match flexo printing; and new workflow comparison study with benchmark data. This year, the re-tooled program also features a presentation from Birgit Plautz, GMG Americas manager of technical services and a specialist focusing on the most innovative color tools in the market today.

Workshops are also scheduled for the following cities: Bay area (May 10), Appleton, WI (May 23), New Jersey (June 5) and Minneapolis (June 20). The series will also resume this fall.

“Our workshop shows how these new tools address the most pressing issues that packaging providers face today. Everyone is looking to get more done with less,” said Joe Varone, GMG Americas president. “We look forward to showing people how they can dramatically increase throughput and job quality with less.”
