Traditionally this type of packaging is made from CPET or aluminum material; by utilizing a pulp-based tray, brand owners concerned with their environmental footprint can reduce packaging weight and dependence on oil-based, non-renewable materials. For consumers, the trays are cool to the touch after heating and are easy to recycle.
