Packaged water to become soft drinks leader in 2015

Global consumption of bottled water has doubled in the past decade, and is set to continue growth to replace carbonates as the leading soft drinks category.
May 15, 2013
It was not that long ago that the idea of buying water in a bottle seemed outrageously quirky to most people, but over the past few decades the demand for packaged water has rocketed exponentially. Just ten years ago world consumption stood at one hundred billion liters. Since then, and despite the global downturn, volumes have actually doubled. Perhaps even more amazing is that, according to Canadean’s latest calculations, packaged water will actually overtake carbonates as the leading soft drinks category in just two years. This anticipated result is being bolstered by its healthy image, plus actual necessity in those areas of the world lacking alternative, safe, water supplies.

Iconic maple syrup brand gets edge from metal packaging

Partnership with Crown helps boost Dominion & Grimm’s Business
May 10, 2013
In Canada, consumers recognize the syrup can immediately and, embodied in its classic design, the package has changed little in appearance, reinforcing the connection made between that packaging and the syrup itself. Packaging line improvements keep craft brewer focused on the future

Goal of increasing throughput while eliminating packaging breakage
April 5, 2013
After experiencing a higher than desirable level of bottle breakage with repurposed packaging equipment, Midwestern stalwart Boulevard Brewing Company approached Standard-Knapp to create a solution to meet its non-traditional packaging demands, which include four different bottle types, multiple packaging sizes, and no carton dividers. The packaging company responded with an innovative solution that picks the product from the infeed conveyor and gently places it into the bottom of the empty case. The company now reports virtually zero packaging breakage and has increased throughput by about 10% because of increased efficiency and less down time.
