Consumer trends have contributed to a gradual replacement of rigid pack formats by flexible packaging during the last decade or so. Total flexible packaging sales were at $219.5 billion in 2016, with growth expected at an annual rate of 4.3% to $282.6 billion by 2022.

The 30th Awards for Packaging Innovation continues the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation program established in 1986. Dow carries on the tradition of assembling an independent panel of international packaging judges from a variety of disciplines, to provide awards with a global perspective across design, engineering, retail, converting and academia.
The PMMI Foundation is proud to announce the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) as the recipient of the Future Leaders in Packaging Scholarship. The $5,000 Scholarship, awarded each year to an educational institution that prepares students for careers in packaging, will be divided among two or three students selected by the school based on a combination of academic excellence and financial need.
Exhibitor applications for interpack 2020 Processes and Packaging, are now available online. The deadline for reserving exhibit space at interpack 2020 is February 28, 2019. The trade fair will be held from May 7–13, 2017 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany. A special feature at interpack 2020 will be the U.S. Pavilion, organized by Messe Düsseldorf North America.

PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, just announced that Jim Pittas will assume the role of president and CEO of PMMI effective Feb. 1, 2018. Pittas succeeds Chuck Yuska, who is retiring after 27 years at the helm.
The Independent Carton Group (ICG) welcomes Vista Color Corporation of Miami, Fla., to its member roster. This brings the ICG’s membership to 19 independently owned and operated folding carton manufacturers in 15 U.S. states and Canada.
