AMMEGA Group Expands Capabilities at Georgia Facility

AMMEGA Group, a global leader in conveying and power transmission solutions, has announced expanded capabilities at its Buford, Georgia, facility—now the company’s first global site to exclusively produce water-based polyurethane (PU) belts.

As part of AMMEGA’s broader U.S. investment across its leading brands—Ammeraal Beltech and Megadyne—the state-of-the-art Buford facility strengthens domestic production capacity. This enables faster lead times, greater supply chain resilience, and highly technical, tailored support for distribution partners and OEMs.

"To remain the local partner of choice for belting solutions and help our customers maintain their competitive edge, we must not only keep pace with industry trends but also anticipate them," said Bobby Bauman, Director - Global Product Line Management Friction Driven at AMMEGA. "The capabilities at our Buford facility address customer needs while also advancing their broader business and sustainability objectives."

While AMMEGA Group’s global facilities in the Netherlands and China already use water-based adhesives for some solutions, the Buford facility has established a new benchmark by becoming the first synthetic facility worldwide to exclusively implement water-based adhesives. This innovation significantly reduces atmospheric pollution since it replaces chemical carriers like toluene or acetone with water. These aqueous adhesives also improve biodegradability—since they’re broken down through natural processes—and overall sustainability efforts because they are easier to treat in wastewater systems.

While this local implementation involves significant innovation and goes beyond simply applying technology and raw materials proven at other AMMEGA Group plants, it also anticipates future regulatory needs. Europe is already mandating that these chemical materials be outlawed, through VOC and REACH regulations, though local facilities currently lack the capability to meet those coming requirements.

AMMEGA’s national footprint includes 14 warehouses, eight customer solutions centers, five manufacturing facilities, and three fabrication sites. In the past five years, AMMEGA has invested more than $100 million to expand U.S. production, warehousing and service capabilities through its Built American Proud initiative—strengthening business agility, supply chain resilience, and sustainability for customers nationwide.

“This sustained investment reflects AMMEGA’s long-standing confidence in American manufacturing and its dedication to supporting domestic industry,” the company says. “As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, the company’s continued expansion underscores its belief in the future of U.S. manufacturing and the communities it serves.”

AMMEGA’s local presence ensures shorter lead times and reduced carbon footprint due to shorter shipping distances, fostering speed and quality from door to door.
