A new “functional beverage” has vitamin supplements and other ingredients stored in its cap, ready to be released upon consumption.
Activate drinks from Rising Beverage Co., Los Angeles, feature a cap that, when twisted by the consumer, cuts an interior seal with a small plastic blade and uses an armature to open the seal. This allows powdered nutritional supplements and flavorings to drop into the water below. The packaging was designed by the Lee Reedy agency, and the bottle is supplied by MPI Packaging through Zuckerman Honickman.
Activate drinks come in four flavors, each with a different nutritional benefit. The suggested retail price for the 16.9-ounce bottles is $2.29.
