Melinda's squeeze bottle turning things upside-down

Melindas ketchup
May 31, 2016

When your taste buds are screaming to add some spice to your life, look no further than Melinda’s brand-new plastic, upside-down spicy ketchup bottles.

Thanks to a rotten tomato in the ketchup industry bullying it out of their not-so-similar glass packaging, Melinda’s just unveiled an even better alternative. Now ketchup lovers can squeeze out their favorite spicy ketchups, instead of stewing with anticipation while some mass-market sauce slowly works its way down a glass bottle.

Melinda’s spicy ketchup product line was first introduced to the market in 1998. Its recipes combine fresh chile peppers and real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup favored by other brands. And as with all its quality products, Melinda’s ketchups contain no artificial preservatives or colors, zero gluten and no GMOs.

Featuring five zesty flavors – Habanero, Ghost, Chipotle, Jalapeño and Black Pepper – Melinda’s ketchups are riding the same wave of exponential retail and restaurant demand that has propelled their hot sauces to unprecedented heights.

“We’ve been in this industry for more than 25 years and we’ve perfected a high-quality, spicy ketchup line that gives flavor-conscious consumers everything they’re looking for,” says Greg Figueroa, co-founder, managing director and CEO of Melinda’s.

Melinda’s rapid market share growth is being propelled in large part by four key factors: the increasing popularity of spicy and ethnic foods; America’s rapidly expanding population of Central, South American and Caribbean immigrants; the widely recognized health benefits of chile peppers; and the growing purchasing power of Millennials, who are more apt to experiment with new spices and flavor profiles.

“At Melinda’s, we believe variety is the spice of life,” says David Figueroa, co-founder and head of brand marketing. “All five of our bold, original ketchup flavors are passionately crafted to perfectly balance heat and flavor. Once you’ve tried them, you’ll never be satisfied with plain ole ketchup again.”

Your burgers, fries and other favorite foods are ready to indulge in some zesty ketchup. What are you waiting for?

Melinda’s upside-down squeeze ketchups are now available at Central Market and Walmart stores, and expanding rapidly at retailers nationwide.
